Meet the team

Meet our reporters for Leeds Northern:

James Grayson


James is an avid sports fan, particularly when it comes to football. Whether it’s tweeting, blogging, or writing newspaper articles, James always has something to say about the beautiful game.

With a degree in Sports Journalism from Huddersfield, James is also the press officer for his local non-league club, Farsley AFC, and has had extensive experience on the Yorkshire Evening Post sports desk.


Samantha Hepworth


Sam has always been passionate about writing and has a degree in English and History of Art.

She worked at Spenborough Guardian for four years and sees herself working for a local newspaper in the future.

Sam would describe herself as a proud working class northerner.


Andreas Mullings


Andreas is a politics graduate and has worked in Parliament and at the Halifax Courier.

He is interested in technology, political and crime journalism. He aims to write about hard news and technology for a national newspaper.


Shaun Moloney


With a law degree from the University of Birmingham and experience contributing to sports and music publications in the USA and UK, Shaun is an adaptable and ambitious character in the newsroom.

With experience writing for, and contributing to music based publications on both sides of the Atlantic, Shaun’s interests and skills have steered him towards music journalism            but he retains an interest in sports and current affairs.


Meet our team at Voice of Yorkshire: 

Tom Swain


Tom spent three years studying for a BA in English at the University of Nottingham, and has  experience at the Ilkley Gazette, as well as writing for popular motoring magazine, Evo.

Tom aspires to be a motoring journalist, but also has interests in technology, sports and travel journalism.

Above all, Tom wants Jeremy Clarkson’s job.


Jon Cronshaw


Jon is a PhD graduate of History of Art. He has used this to create specialisation in arts, music and culture journalism.

He is also interested in issues surrounding disability, welfare and education.

His future ambition is to become a feature writer for a national newspaper or online news source, using data and documentary research.





Watson is a fully qualified Guide Dog who has a deep interest in lampposts, parks, and bones. He can sniff out a story from 200 meters, and won’t take any woof treatment.

Sallie Gregson


Sallie studied for a Media Studies degree and has a keen interest in music journalism.

Being a magazine music journalist would be her ideal job as she would be combining work with pleasure.


Kate Russell


After completing her English Language MA, Kate decided she wanted to pursue her passion to become a journalist.

She started her journey at The List Magazine in Edinburgh and later took her career forward at The Skinny which publishes in Edinburgh and Glasgow. During her time there she covered comedy events and two Edinburgh festivals.

Interviewing people is Kate’s passion, and she loves covering comedy and women’s issues.

Kate is open to what the future will bring.
