Detective Superintendent Scott Wood, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a significant find as part of our on-going investigation into Jordan’s murder. We will be consulting forensic and ballistics experts to establish whether the gun is connected to the shooting.”
They are Jake Looby, aged 19, of Beckhill Chase, Leeds, Luke Toner, aged 20, of Scott Hall Place, Leeds, and Colin Webster, aged 19, of Bayswater Row, Leeds, appeared in court this week charged with murder.
Cyrus Hanley, aged 19, of Miles Hill View, Potternewton, has previously been charged with the murder.
They were remanded in custody and the case adjourned to July 26.
Mr Stapleton was found dead at his home in Beckhill Chase, Meanwood, on April 16, as his four-year-old son slept upstairs.
Officers investigating the murder of Jordan Stapleton have found a shotgun during a search of woods near to the scene in Meanwood.
