A devoted uncle of a toddler with Cerebral Palsy is going that extra mile to raise funds for an operation that could help his little nephew walk.
Wesley Knight, 20 months, of Guiseley, struggles to sit, crawl or even stand – but neurosurgery would reduce the muscle stiffness that prevents him from walking.
His family are now trying to raise the £95,000 for the cost of the surgery and the aftercare.
On Saturday uncle Sam Knight, 28, set off on a two week biking endurance challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats – which includes climbing the national three peaks. So far he has raised £1,431 towards Wesley’s operation.
Wesley’s mum Catherine Knight, 41 said: “It’s overwhelming that so many people want to help us. We didn’t think it was going to be possible but we made a new year’s resolution and everyone has come forward and helped. It’s overwhelming. Wesley is a  lovely, sweet, chatty, bright young boy. We will find a way.”
The family have raised £15,000 since January. To help or visit
