Guiseley AFC 2 Chester FC 1
Man of the match Josh Wilson gave Guiseley AFC a fantastic win over champions Chester FC.
Before kick-off the Guiseley players showed their respect to the new champions of the Blue Square Bet Conference North with a guard of honour.
The game started brightly for both teams in the sunshine at NethermoorPark, with Chester fans singing the loudest.
But Guiseley took an early lead with a superb goal by Wilson past goalkeeper John Danby.
Both teams were playing well, with former Leeds United player Seb Carole playing down the left wing, and some neat touches for the Lions.
As weather conditions deteriorated towards the end of the half, Chester equalised with a goal by number 10 Tony Gray.
During half time there was plenty of banter between both sets of fans, especially when some Chester fans were re-located to a covered standing area, previously occupied by a few Guiseley fans.
The teams came out for the second half with only one change, Chester captain George Horan being replaced by Wesley Baynes.
And the game continued in the same lively manner, with both teams having chances and Chester came the closest to going ahead, missing an open goal.
But it was Wilson who secured the win for The Lions with a good finish.
And although the win alters nothing in the league with Guiseley staying second, it was a return to winning ways which will stand them in good stead in the play-offs.
