Twelve arrests over football disorder

By James Grayson

Twelve men have been arrested and two more are being sought after “an explosion of violence” marred Leeds United’s FA Cup fourth round victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Fighting broke out outside Yates’s Wine Bar on Boar Lane at 6pm following the game, which was played on January 27.

The incident, which police suspect may have been a “pre-arranged fight”, saw officers pelted with bottles.

Chief Superintendent Paul Money, Divisional Commander for City & Holbeck, said: “This was an appalling explosion of violence in the heart of the city centre at tea-time on a Sunday and is obviously not something that we can ever tolerate.”

Detectives have also released images of the two men that are wanted with connection to the incident.
