MP’s tribute to Thatcher

By James Grayson

Pudsey MP Stuart Andrew has hailed former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher as the person who “inspired” him to enter politics.

Baroness Thatcher died yesterday at the age of 87 after suffering a stroke. She was Britain’s first female Prime Minister having won three general elections between 1979 and 1990.

Mr Andrew, who became the MP in the 2010 general election, commented on his Facebook page: “Very sad to hear that Margaret Thatcher has died. She inspired me to get involved in politics and was a formidable leader. My thoughts (are) with those closest to her.”

Baroness Thatcher has been granted a ceremonial funeral with full military honours and it will take place at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral.
